Surrounded by three artificial lakes that make it look like a suspended island, Mantua is an open-air museum declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Palazzo Ducale and the Bridal Chamber: Admire Mantegna's masterpieces.
Palazzo Te: The Gonzaga's entertainment villa, with its incredible giant frescoes.
Piazza delle Erbe: The beating heart of the city, perfect for a coffee while admiring the Rotonda di San Lorenzo.
🌸 Valeggio sul Mincio and Sigurtà Park.
A few kilometers from Mantua, up the Mincio River, lies Valeggio. This stop is a must for two reasons:
Sigurtà Garden Park: One of the most beautiful botanical parks in the world. In spring, the blossoming of tulips is a unique sensory experience.
The "Love Knot": Valeggio is the home of handmade tortellini. Don't leave without tasting them at one of the historic trattorias downtown.
💧 Borghetto sul Mincio: Where time has stood still
Just below Valeggio, connected by the majestic Visconteo Bridge, lies Borghetto. It is a tiny watermill village nestled in the river.
The atmosphere: It is the most romantic place in the area. Walk among the ancient wheels of mills that are still working and enjoy the constant sound of the flowing Mincio River.
Bicycle touring: and if you fancy a pedal ride Borghetto is the most iconic point on the Peschiera-Mantova cycle path.

How far is Mantua from Torbole sul Garda? About 85 km. The fastest route is via the A22 freeway (Mantova Nord exit), which can be traveled in about 1 hour and 10 minutes from Glocal Hotel.
Is it possible to visit Valeggio and Borghetto on foot? Absolutely. Borghetto is a hamlet of Valeggio; the two centers are connected by a pleasant scenic walk and the Visconteo Bridge.
What is the best time to visit Sigurtà Park? March through November. "Tulipanomania" (April) and rose bloom (May-June) are the peak times.
